Galveston Pleasure Pier Coming Together Nicely

While there has been some discouraging news lately of parks closing we must also remember that the industry has some entirely new project to focus on as well.  A great example of this is the Galveston Pleasure Pier, which is an all new attraction set to open this Summer.

And while we've been following the construction of the park for some time now, things are really starting to come together!  In the photo above it would be easy to think this was a shot of an open park, until closer examination.  When complete the pier will be home to 16 rides, ranging from quite wild to mild.

As far as coaster fans are concerned I'm sure the biggest item to look forward to is the Iron Shark, an extremely compact Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter.  Here we see the ride getting quite twisted as track and tree-like supports are now going up at a furious pace.  Iron Shark may not be the longest ride out there, but its twisted track and multiple inversions has my attention!

And the ride technically hangs out over the ocean!  Yes, it may not be a lot but here you can see that some of the track is over the edge of the pier.

The Galveston Pleasure Pier has a planned Summer opening, with no specific date set, at least as of now.

Hi!
This is more of a general comment.
First though, I LOVE your blog.
However, I'm not familiar with all the parks you cover and I think it would be greatly appreciated (by me at least) if you just added the city/ state (or country) when talking about each park. That way, I wouldn't be leaving your site to google or wiki each one I didn't know.
That's all.
Keep up the good work!

Fair enough! I often take for granted that all our readers are familiar with the parks we post about. Thanks for the feedback!
