Scott And Carol Present - An Update on Hersheypark's Skyrush!

Last week we stopped by Hersheypark to check-up on the construction of the park's newest roller coaster, Skyrush! It has been a while since our last update and lot has happened at the park, unfortunately the construction has not progressed as quickly as all concerned would have hoped.

Notice the brown area on the Comet's structure (to the right of the tree trunk)where the flood water was high enough to leave it's mark.

Here you can see a watermark on a pre-flood footer, a "new" footer and the rebar in place awaiting concrete for another footer.

This photo shows more footers in various stages of construction and an area where rain water is still being drained.

A close-up of the rebar frame for one of Skyrush's many footers.

These footers seem to be floating in this pool of flood water.

There is plenty of track on site, here are some pieces of transfer track.

Here are a few straight pieces of track and the blue support is where the rides motor will be mounted.

This photo shows the wheels for Skyrush's lift cable.

Here are two shots of track, showing that ride will be using double and single spine track. The advantage of the double spine track is that the ride's supports can be placed farther apart.

Hopefully, the weather will hold, the winter will be mild, the construction crew can get back on schedule and the ride will open on time.

2012 is going to be a big year for steel: SkyRush, Leviathan, Verbolten, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, and X-Flight at SFGAm all sound like winners to me!
