Alpine Freefalls at Splashwater Kingdom

Splashwater Kingdom at Great Escape in Lake George, NY is getting a major expansion in 2012. Today, it's been announced that the park will debut Alpine Freefalls, a waterslide complex boasting a twisting mat racer and the park’s first free fall speed slide.

At six stories high, the Cliffhanger will plunge riders up to 32 mph down an 80-degree drop. Of course, it will begin with the requisite Proslide Skybox technology, where terrified riders count down for the floor to drop out from below.

The Twisted Racer will allow the whole family to compete (assuming there are 4 people in your family). The slide begins with an enclosed serpentine section before all 4 lanes converge for a final rush to the finish line. Each rider will have his or her race time displayed on LED boards at the end. With the addition of these new high-profile slides, Splashwater Kingdom is clearly becoming a waterpark destination of its own!
