Six Flags Over Texas' Golden Year

A giant celebration is planned for the start of the 50th Anniversary season of Six Flags Over Texas.  The park, which opened on August 5th, 1961, will host an Opening Day ceremony on Saturday, March 5th at 9:30 am.

Highlights of the celebration include visits from members of the Wynne family, current and past Mayors of Arlington, and the park's President, Steve Martindale.  Guests will soon be able to purchase tickets to the park that will be valid on March 5th and 6th, 2011, that will cost only $19.61.

In late Spring the New Texas Giant is planned to open to guests.  The totally renovated steel and wood hybrid coaster is highly anticipated by both the general public and fan community.

Counting down to the August 5th formal birthday will be "50 Days of Fun," starting June 18th.  Each day will feature special events, a park closing show featuring the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, and the reopening of the Casa Magnetica.  The park's actual anniversary weekend promises to feature a Texas-sized party.
