Aerial Antics: Universal Studios Singapore

Thanks to one of our readers, Kevin, for making me aware of some great new aerials of Universal Studios Singapore.  Above is a view of the island that the park sits on, called Resorts World Sentosa.  The island is packed with leisure activities, including several hotels, a golf course, museums, a casino, and naturally Universal Studios.

Here is a closer view of the park.  As you can see it is pretty boxed in, making future development a bit tricky.  The upper left portion of this photo includes the hotels and casino area, while the theme park fills out most of the rest.

Zooming in even more we'll start at the entrance area to the park, known as the Hollywood section.  The park's covered walkways obscure some details, but we can get the general idea.  Hollywood contains many shopping and food locations in a traditional themed boulevard style.  It also has a large theater which shows the Universal Monsters in a musical revue.

The park's New York section is the lower left of this area, but is pretty much totally covered leaving not much to see.

The Madagascar area is seen here in the upper portion of the photo.  At the top of the photo is the queue and show building for Madagascar: A Crate Adventure, a large dark ride that has yet to open.  The area also contains King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round, a themed carousel.

The lower half of the photo shows Far Far Away, an entire land themed to Shrek.  The large castle contains a few different attractions, like Shrek 4-D and Donkey Live.  Sitting close to the center lagoon is Enchanted Airways, a family roller coaster.

The Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure is a large whitewater rafting themed journey that takes up much of the real estate in The Lost World.  You can see it's channel weaving around trees and rock canyons, along with a big indoor section.  The area also has the WaterWorld stunt arena, which is clearly visible in this photo as well.

One of the smallest lands is Ancient Egypt, which really only has two rides.  The large building contains Revenge of the Mummy, a highly themed indoor coaster.  You can also see the path of Treasure Hunters, which is a slow moving car ride.

Finally this is Sci Fi City, home to the very twisted looking Battlestar Galactica dueling coasters.  It is always pretty neat to see dueling coasters like this from above.  The building on the left is the future home of the Transformers ride, which is supposed to open in 2011.

Here is a link to the Bing aerials of the park.
