Knoebels Purchases The Golden Nugget

Amusement Today has exclusively revealed that Knoebels Amusement Resort has indeed purchased the track and trains from The Golden Nugget, soon to be removed from Morey's Piers in Wildwood, NJ.

Great news! The ride couldn't be in more capable, caring hands. The article does say that resurrecting the ride is at the earliest a 2010 project, so who knows when it'll open. It's exciting either way!

I'm extremely disappointed in Knoebels. What's the deal with Flying Turns? It's been under construction since 2006. There's got to be something holding them back. All I want to know is, will the Golden Nugget be built quicker than Flying Turns? I seriously hope so...

You can't be disappointed with Knoebels for the simple reason, that they are building an original ride from scratch. When the first turns were built in the 20s & 30s, the safety restriction and insurance liabilities were for all purposes nonexistant. Due to the potential for randomness in a ride that is free-flowing, the cars and the way they react with different weight loads needs to be perfect before the state will allow it to open and an insurance company will insure it. I can assure you, they are not choosing to not finish the project. When it opens it will be great.
