Why So Vague Still?

First off, apparently Geauga Lake's new name will be Geauga Lake's Wildwater Kingdom. Uhh, okay, so the former park is 'presenting' the water park? Pick one. Geauga Lake. Wildwater Kingdom.

One makes sense, the other does not, and combining them does not fix the situation.

And why I wrote about being vague? Well, they said they're closing the ride side. Why not announce what rides are moving where? Why not make it clear if ANY rides are moving over, or not - to the water side, especially water rides that could work in a water park.

Does this failure count as a business write-off for Cedar Fair?

And then there's the question of what the land will be used for. Are they putting it on the market, or just some of it, perhaps? Keeping it for something like an indoor water park? How about a timeline, is this all going to happen this winter?

I suppose all this will become clear at some point. I just hate how Cedar Fair sits on so much. The cat's outta the bag already, just explain the rest.

My guess is that they're transitioning away from the name "Geauga Lake." It's like when you want to change a dog's name -- they tell you to use both names for a while ("Here, Rex-Fido!") until it learns the new one, and then you can drop the old. So CF is going to call it "Geauga Lake's Whitewater Kingdom" until everyone gets used to the name "Whitewater Kingdom" and then will drop the "Geauga Lake." That is my prediction.

I'm sure you're correct... I wrote that post pretty soon after it was announced and was still rather ticked off.

I still think it's almost offensive to continue to use the name (Geauga) in the water park's title when you've decided to kill off the history of the name.

Human and business nature, though, I guess.
